Rest in peace Doug Howerton. You were an incredible mind, a great hang and had a fantastic sense of humor. If you recorded at my studio between 2009 and 2013 you probably met Doug while his amp building and repair business was in the same building as my studio. He may have fixed your amp, made you a pedal or just shared a laugh with you in the hallway. He was always up in his shop bringing vintage amps back to life or building new ones… or just jamming records and testing tubes hoping for a matched quad of Mullards.

This is a picture of Doug and I testing out his prototype tube mic preamp back in 2011. We had many a great time nerding out and a lot of laughs. I learned so much from him over the years, I wouldn’t be the same person without him. I know wherever his soul is now he’s shredding hot licks on a 100watter through a couple pinstripe full stacks.
