It doesn’t matter what you do at the margins if you don’t get the basics broadly right in training and racing. Really enjoyed talking to Scotty Sandow on the podcast.
The Art of Ultrarunning w/ Ian Sharman - Ultra Running Magazine Scotty sits down with veteran ultrarunner Ian Sharman to talk about his new book, The Art of Ultrarunning. They discuss highlights of the book including how to best pace yourself in an ultramarathon, the benefits of power-hiking, how not to let ego sabotage your race day.

With Cocodona coming to a close, my latest article explains how to deal with the key differences between 200-milers and 100-milers. :

After a month focused on corrective exercises and strengthening, my calves and Achilles feel way better. was an ideal long run test (and break for warm weather). So now I can train hard again - 3 months til Thames Path 100 with 3 marathons as training en route. Also great to see people I haven’t bumped into since leaving the Bay Area in 2015, including the legendary Jean Pommier. Highly recommend this fast, looped course near Sacramento.
