A beautiful moment at the downtown Portland waterfront this morning as the US Navy held a colors presentation as Fleet Week begins during the Rose Festival. They raised the US flag on the flagpole across from the historic Battleship Oregon memorial as the Navy band played the Star-Spangled Banner. I gotta tell ya, it had me choked up a bit as that flag unfurled in the wind. Not sure why, but the flag has been missing here for several years and seeing it look so beautiful with the music was very poignant and maybe a bit sad considering where our country is. A beautiful moment nonetheless..,.

They’re heeeeeeeeerrrrreee… spotted my first Waymo vehicle in downtown Portland this morning! These self driving cars started arriving in town about a month ago. The company says they’ll spend months on the roads around Portland with human drivers as they calibrate their system for this city before they go solo. The beginning of the robot takeover…
