The Emerge Oregon Signature Program applications are open right now. The applications for this cohort-based candidate training program will close on Friday, November 14th. The training occurs over several months with both in-person and online sessions. What is a part of the success of Emerge is the network of women and the cohort concept. And we need more women to run - now more than ever.
Here's what one of our recent alum shared about their experience in the Emerge Oregon Signature Program: “The cohort concept is the BEDROCK of the program. We draw the strength and the inspiration from every single person in there. Nothing compares to the power and support of a group of women. I have the most awesome husband - he’s so supportive - but I come home - and I am FILLED with amazing goodness and I can’t live without the power of women. Nobody gives you that same energy, support, than a group of amazing women. IT IS SACRED.”
We have a few upcoming sessions for folks thinking about our program and how to best prepare themselves. We call them a Virtual Step Forward. They take place on zoom and folks are not required to attend one in order to apply or to be considered. It's only offered as it may be helpful in thinking things through and preparing and seeing yourself as a future candidate.
The session dates/times are:
• Wednesday, 10/29, 6-7:30pm
• Sunday, 11/2, 7-8:45pm. (LGBTQ-focused)
• Sunday, 11/9, 7-8:45pm (BIPOC-focused)
If folks are interested in attending a session, they can follow the RSVP link. Feel free to share it with others! We'll send the zoom link closer to the date.
Step Forward RSVP - I'm Emerge Curious! If you are interested in our Signature program, this is a great introductory info session. You don't need to attend a session to apply for the Emerge Oregon Signature Program but it can be helpful to get a sense of what you are embarking on! Today is Indigenous Peoples Day and Governor Kotek has issued a proclamation which highlights the following:
• The historical and present-day contributions of Indigenous Peoples to Oregon's character and development
• The pre-existing and continued sovereignty of federally recognized Tribes
• Indigenous contributions to arts, education, health, economic development, environmental stewardship, and civic community
• The importance of traditional ecological knowledge and partnerships
• Our collective commitment to celebrating the enduring traditions, languages, governments, and histories of Indigenous People
It is important to remember and recognize the richness of Tribal peoples not only in our state but across the country, especially given this particular moment in time.
