Latino Network is horrified to hear of the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by ICE agents in Houston, Texas.

This shooting is the continuation of the reckless, violent, and illegal actions taken by DHS officials since the start of the Trump administration, including shooting two community members right here in Portland as well as the killings of Alex Pretti and Renée Good. This type of violence inflicted by our own federal government cannot be allowed to stand.

Let us be very clear: no matter who you are, police officers should never be your judge, jury, and executioner. This is especially true for those who are accused of civil offenses–like violating immigration law–and not criminal ones. We condemn this shooting in no uncertain terms as well as the pattern of behavior from the federal government that it represents.

Este tiroteo es una continuación de las acciones imprudentes, violentas e ilegales tomadas por oficiales de DHS desde el comienzo de la administración Trump, incluyendo balaceando a dos miembros de nuestra comunidad aquí en Portland y los as*****tos de Alex Pretti y Renée Good. Este tipo de violencia inflicta por nuestro propio gobierno federal no puede ser permitida en nuestra sociedad.
