Today, June 16, we observe the International Day of the African Child.

This day honors the children of the 1976 Soweto Uprising, who stood against poor-quality education and the forced use of Afrikaans in schools. Many were killed, and since 1991, this day has raised awareness about education and child welfare across Africa.

At Harambee Centre, we continue this mission by supporting scholarships for children in rural Kenya and Uganda, preparing tomorrow’s African leaders. Please consider donating today to support this important work.

Annual Harambee Benefit Dinner Today!! We invite you to join us for an evening of African food and drumming, and to hear about the projects we have been working on this past year. The event is from 6-8pm (with doors opening at 5:30pm) at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church. If you are unable to attend the event, we invite you to donate using the link in our bio.

Our scholars in Uganda spent time reflecting on their lessons with Grace Kuto’s book “Be the Gift, Be the Light.”

Join us this Thursday, October 9th at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church at 6pm to fundraise for scholarships to support them. You can also order a book or donate to their scholarship fund using the link in our bio.

We invite you all to our 24th Annual Dinner Benefit! The event will take place on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 from 6-8pm.

This dinner benefit is a chance for us to share with you all the work we have done on over the past year and is a crucial part of our yearly fundraising.
