Busy studio days.
Harvest, dry, grind, dye, construct - repeat
Two shades of cutch pigment being processed into watercolor.

My original venture into pigment was inspired from .garcia84 using calcium carbonate but recently I discovered the alternative recipe with sodium carbonate gives different shades as the ph is altered. Thanks for sharing your results!
Sometimes IG can be enlightening 😊

Summer Solstice Studio Selfie

Water, heat and time. I discovered these three things when I started my rusting journey. They produce, enhance and speed up the process.

It sounds so simple yet it took me many trials to figure it out and bring each of them together. I did not have an instructor or the convenience of the internet to search for information back in 2001.
It felt like I was being initiated in the rust cult for which I knew none of the other members.
