Happy Friday, friends!

Wild night over here with my cup of honey lavender tea, winding down early for a change! This weekend will mostly be filled with some proper 2019 goal setting (in my amazing , which I live by - more to come on this), finishing my tax prep, soccer for the babes, a baby shower, and gearing up for the Venue Crawl next weekend!

What’ve you got going on? A little work? A little play?

That afternoon slump is hitting me real hard, today! The kids are napping, and while normally I'd be working out, sending out emails, editing, or taking care of something around the house, I decided to just give into it and take a break today.

Instead, I'm sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, thinking about how blessed I am to get to choose to do this. When I turned this passion into a business in 2010, I had one goal in mind: to slowly build it over time, so that when we finally grew our family, I could be home with these little babes.

They were my "why" before they even existed, and while nothing else may have gone as planned, getting to this was all worth it.

I almost didn’t post this - you know, the non-professional iPhone snap of an “imperfect” piece taken on my kitchen island. But today, I did something I am known to be the absolute worst at: I did something for ME.

I went to ‘s amazing intro to watercolor florals workshop and worked with a medium that is so unfamiliar to me, and I got so much more out of it than I intended.

Another attendee asked Kaitlyn how she got started painting with watercolors, and her answer hit so close to home for me: she talked about how in her life and with her work (calligraphy), everything is so precise and she is known to be a complete perfectionist. Painting with watercolors was a way to release, and to relinquish some of that “control.” You have to just go where the water takes you.

So, it looks like I’m going to have a weekly date - with myself - to practice with this new medium and to learn to embrace the seemingly imperfect.

Most nights, you can find me sitting at my desk plugging away after I get the kids to bed, already dreaming of the cup of coffee I’ll definitely be needing the next morning.

Anyone else both a night owl and a morning person like me? Finding that balance is always a struggle. All I know is, until my babies are in school, I’ll happily keep giving my family most of my attention all day, even if it means working late into the night.
