I’ve been told recently by some of my current clients that it would be helpful to those trying to choose a therapist, in this current political and social climate, to have therapists advertise according to who they are and what they believe, so that people seeking safe spaces can better judge their alignment.

So, in the spirit of transparency, I will share that I am a European person, first raised by my pagan mama, then in the foster care system, later adopted by a Black Muslim family and a Catholic Mexican family. I attended schools that were primarily hispanic and black. My family is a collection of q***r people, bipoc people, neurodivergent people, and European people.

I love everybody, I detest our current representation, and I currently participate in protests and advocacy. I went through my phone and have shared various activism related images I’ve collected over the past year or so.

As we head jump into the Fall/Winter months, some of us love the vibe (me), and some of us miss the sunshine and fall into depression. Remember, even if summer vibes are your thing, there is beauty all around you! Use your all your senses to help awaken your joy. Take a moment to really smell the crisp air, really taste the cocoa, really touch and feel the soft blankets, and really listen to the leaves rustling in the trees. Close your eyes and let if wash over you. Do this as often as you need. Happiness is only elusive when we tell ourselves its in the future.
