Traveling the Canal du Midi by Bicycle to O'berges Du Canal Restaurant in Villeneuve-lès-Béziers, Celebrating France!

Brian and Arthur set out on a bike ride on the Canal du Midi, and they came upon O’Berges du Canal Restaurant!

The eminently delightful O’Berges du Canal Restaurant has tree shaded outdoor dining on the bank of the Canal du Midi in Villeneuve-lès-Béziers, France.

Our France-based food and travel writer, Brian Trimpe, shares the joys of his bicycle trip to O’Berges du Canal Restaurant:

“We arrived at the canal lock in Villeneuve-lès-Béziers and started looking around for a lunch spot, ideally right next to the canal. Just downstream from the locks, we found O’Berge du Canal Restaurant. O’Berges (“au berges”) means “on the banks” and they had outdoor dining literally right on the bank of the canal. This looked like a great spot to sit for a meal, enjoy the shade under the trees that line the canal, and watch boats pass by.

The pizza was amazing and the highlight of the visit. Seven beautiful medallions of white chevre adorned the top of the honey drizzled pizza. The sauce was creme epaisse–which is literally a “thick cream” sauce–and tasted very much like a fresh ricotta cheese.”
