Google’s project Starline aims to bring dimension and connection to video chat.
Google recently announced project Starline, a new spin on video chat. Using a large screen, multiple cameras, and microphones participants are able to see a 3D representation of the other participant.
Google has noted that one of the features they are most proud of is that once you start using the technology, it fades into the background letting the users feel present and connected with the each other. Using real time compression Google has been able to vary realistic images where people feel like they are sitting at a table with each other.
While this technology isn’t readily available for the consumer market, Google does believe that this is where long distance person to person communication is, and should be heading. Would you be interested in using a video chat with these capabilities?
