Robinsong Strength and Conditioning
Variety is the spice of life and so it can be fun to change around some accessory exercises to provide an extra challenge. Today I mixed up the Bulgarian Split Squat which I have been performing mostly with dumbbells and switched to a barbell.
The back rack position I find is the easier for balance, and allows for a slightly larger forward torso lean than the other two variations.
The front rack position involves holding the weight in front and requires more core work and bracing to maintain a more upright torso position which shifts the emphasis slightly more toward the quadriceps.
The overhead position challenges shoulder stability/core stability while your lower body performs some dynamic work in a vertical torso position.
