RIDES: The 2018 Jeep Wrangler 'Badlands' Overlander Has A Built-In Hardshell Rooftop Tent.

The Jeep Wrangler is already one of the best off-road 4×4 SUVs you can buy. But that hasn’t stopped people from further transforming it in some incredible ways. One of our favorites, though, is the fully-loaded 4-person 2018 Badlands from American Fastbacks.

The power plant of the Badlands hasn’t been altered, but there are some other notable performance changes — including a MOPAR suspension lift, Fox shocks, new 20″ wheels with beefy all-terrain tires, a roof-mounted LED light bar, and a Superwinch EXP front-end winch. Of course, in order to be a proper overlander, it also needed some upgraded amenities, which it has in spades. For starters, it boasts a two-person hardshell rooftop tent, as well as a secondary in-cab sleeping space (with mats) for another two people. It also comes with a 12 V fridge, a two-burner propane stove, a stainless steel sink, and more.

Reach out to American Fastbacks for more info on pricing and availability.

This Overlanding Land Rover Defender Is The Off-Grid 4x4 Camper Of Your Dreams.

Undoubtedly, virtually any iteration of the Land Rover Defender is a solid off-roading machine. But, for longer trips, they can be a bit cramped and uncomfortable. Luckily, the folks at Matzker have come along and remedied that with their overlanding-ready Land Rover Defender 110 ‘MDX Expeditionsmobil.’

Built around a 2.2 td4 engine — which is capable, if a bit lacking in the power department — this 4×4 rig has everything you need to get off the grid for long periods of time. Of course, that starts with the pop-top camper on the back, which boasts plenty of storage, a two-burner stove, separate sleeping and sitting areas, and a whole lot more. Of course, the exterior has gotten some appearance and performance upgrades as well, like a roof rack over the cab (which houses a spare all-terrain tire, as well as a storage box), a front-end winch to help get you out of sticky situations, a snorkel intake, overhead spotlights mounted to a roll cage, etc. It’s likely that this is a one-off project, but we’re willing to bet — for the right price — they’ll happily build another.
