GOOD FRIDAY-
Matthew 27:45-46: From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli Eli, lema sabachthani?” (Which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
The darkness was a sign of God’s displeasure (Amos 8:9). This was an extraordinary cry by Jesus in the darkness. It shows the depth of his suffering as he gave his life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). This is the only time Jesus did not address God as Father indicating for a time even the intimate relationship of Father and Son had been broken.
Take a few minutes to ponder Jesus’s death and what he did for us and all creation. He shed his blood and died on a cross for us. His suffering was the most extreme. This breaks my heart into a million pieces. I am forever grateful to you Jesus and thank you continuously. I am sorry for my sins.
