I don’t know why we have to keep saying this:

It is unconscionable that the republicans are taking away these subsidies

It is also unconscionable that democrats have failed to deliver a universal plan. Make no mistake about it… it is because their donors make So. Much. Money. off the current system

Thank you to and for your leadership on a statewide single payer plan

TL;DR Tax the Rich!

“The Legislature should pursue a series of commonsense tax policies in the upcoming short session to raise state revenue from those who can afford it most: corporations and ultra-wealthy Oregonians. This includes making data centers like Apple, QTS and Amazon pay property taxes from day one, instead of granting “incentives” that allow them to go five to 15 years without paying property taxes. Oregon should hold global corporations that hide their profits overseas accountable and include more of their global profits in assessing their tax liability. And Oregon should shut down the Qualified Small Business Stock exclusion, a state tax break for millionaires and billionaires investing in tech startups that don’t even need to be in Oregon.

Oregon’s state budget relies heavily on taxing wages that working Oregonians earn from their own hard labor. While working Oregonians have few options for lowering their tax bills, corporations and wealthy Oregonians benefit from a system that builds in corporate loopholes and imposes lower tax rates on certain kinds of investment and business income.“
