All 86 comedians I’ve asked to sign my stool, so far.

The feature comedian is tasked with entertaining an open mic audience for 10 minutes. It’s a way to highlight newer comedians or bring in over-qualified drop ins.

A new one signs my stool every week in the middle of the open mic at 10pm

This is my first birthday in a few years.

Come hang out . I usually let my birthday pass silently; I will not remind you next time. So poke your head in Monday and laugh with the funniest folks I know + judgmental strangers.

It happens every week, but this week your presence will be a gift.

Ear Ape, with Milo Loza (Nov. 2021-Feb. 2025)

Ear Ape was a live, weekly radio show on KPSU where I logged my knowledge as a new Portland comedian, learning through experience and interviews.

- 50ish episodes in I started interviews.
- 100ish episodes in KPSU told me to change the name from “Ear Ape” and it became “Folkn’t Shift it Talk Sucker.”
- Episode 151 features my aunt Delfina (seen playing chess with me) and we talk about how she introduced me to stand up—though it’s been lost forever due to my sudden revocation of access.

The exact reasons for my show’s abruptcancellation is still unclear, even though I have pushed for clarification (beyond these screenshots). I’m still confused and upset, I don’t believe I deserved to get cut off without a conversation or explanation. My show had been running longer than any other student; I had been there longer than any of the paid staff; I was very familiar with the handbook to prevent disrespect toward the station, which felt inherently essential to my show specifically.

A moment of validation and further confusion: the ceo/president/manager of KPSU (of the time) ran into me last month and apologized, saying she too got kicked out—by the same person.

Nonetheless, I remain appreciative of KPSU—the station itself—for the space and experience. Saturdays aren’t the same without my weekly broadcast from the subbasement of PSU. I still scribble down questions for my peers, and I’m always learning more about stand up comedy, I just no longer have a place to share it all. Many brilliant locals never made it on.

The show was always planned to end when I finish school, which will be this next month, December. It was always meant to end up as a relic of my past; the name is meant to deter listeners, as Ear Ape is inevitably chock-full of my embarrassing youthful ignorance. But I still find it very beautiful and I encourage anyone who’s interested to explore my thoughts from 2021-2025 + enlightenment from my guests.

I’d like to start another show in the future. Maybe a podcast, this time. Something potent and meaningful, hopefully.
