I am a sucker for contrast and finding beauty in the most seemingly bleakest of places. I found this little painting on a walk with my dog yesterday, under a bridge which was pretty shaded, had some trash and broken glass and lots of other graffiti. This little heart flower offered a gentle acknowledgment and feeling of love to me as I walked past. It was a hopeful light in a dark place and added a fullness and dynamic to the path. Things are rarely ever one thing. There are often contrasting elements embedded within the same situation. I can strive for clarity all I want, but I also accept that things are complex, layered and have dimension to them. There are various perspectives on the same thing. I could have easily felt unsafe, dreary or heavy in this underpass- but because I was lucky enough to catch this artwork left by someone else, my perspective changed. I was able to see the beauty underneath, feel the idea of light at the end of the tunnel and appreciate that someone had been there before and made an honest effort to bring love to that space. What is the last thing that you've seen, or place you have been where you were able to see multiple sides to the same thing at once? Heres to a broadened perspective ❤️

This weekend I had a wonderful experience, I got to try sailing, something I've never done before, engage in an activity that someone I love deeply enjoys and eat healthy food all in the same day. I learned so much in this experience. I was able to make connections to sailing with things I've learned about movement through yoga and dance. It was something I was encouraged to "feel". In both dance and yoga I feel I am partnering with other people, my mat, my body, the other elements, and it requires being fully present and opening up to what the movement feels like in that moment. Allowing myself to go with it. It was really energizing to learn a simple concept in sailing, and have my partner be my teacher. He is so passionate about it that it was easy for him to pass this knowledge onto me, and it was a way I got to see deeper into who he is and what he cares about. We worked together to cook a meal on a small grill and ate outside on the dock. The food felt nutritious and extra special because we had to put more effort into making it happen without the space and other things we usually have at our disposal in a kitchen. This experience stretched me and grew my compassion and deepended my understanding of another human being. The lessons I took were these:

1.) Trying new things are exciting and sometimes fun (this was!)
2.) Learning about what people I love care about helps me understand them. I like trying what they love
3.) Working together making food, especially if it is healthy feels nourishing and builds connection

I hope this inspires some connection, trying new things and hethy food in your week! Happy Tuesday friends 💗
