“I love Indian folk music and the local music of Pune. I earned my post-graduate degree in Indology, the study of Indian culture because it’s important for me to be connected to my roots. Music keeps me in a rhythm – in sync with nature.”

Gayatri Tambe-Deshpande is one of the fine artists from Pune, India I'm representing here in North America.

Her current series “A Walk in the Woods” is inspired by what many fellow artists and others in her community enjoy so much: walking the scenic trails around Pune.

“We are so blessed to be in a city surrounded by mountains, lovely nature and thick forests. Unknowingly, those influences started flowing on the canvas. I did not plan the series. It just came down and there was this Eureka moment when I realized this was something I’ve been experiencing. Even though there are no detailed figures or objects, the impressions can be felt through the textures, the colors and the compositions.”
