From Family Archive to Community Screen 📽️

Last month, Gemini Entertainment CEO Jeremy Lunt had the honor of donating his family’s 16mm film collection to Kinonik, a Portland-based nonprofit dedicated to keeping celluloid alive through public screenings of classic films.

Originally started by Jeremy’s father in the 1990s, the collection includes dozens of feature films, television episodes, cartoons, and short subjects; each reel carrying decades of history, memory, and craftsmanship.

“These films are meant to be watched,” Jeremy shared. “They deserve light passing through them, an audience gathered in the dark, and the sound of a projector bringing them to life. Our family hadn’t screened them much in recent years, so it felt right to place them in the hands of an organization committed to keeping 16mm in circulation.”

Preserving film is preserving culture. We’re grateful these reels now have a new home where they will continue to be experienced the way they were intended, on celluloid.

And yes… Jeremy’s mom is especially grateful for the extra space in the house. 🎞️✨
