Talking with @momobirdie about the hand built loom created fully out of recycled materials for Mo’s performance, Red Tape Field Station, taking place tomorrow, Friday October 15th from 9a-7p in front of the PSU Library! The event is a part of Portland Textile Month. Join Mo in weaving on a simple handmade loom, and then mark your presence in the long strand that will develop throughout the day.

Repost from Mo- “What I’ll be be weaving is red linen “tape,” a form of early narrow-band weaving practiced in many forms around the world. This performance uses the phrase “red tape” as a tongue-in-cheek, ubiquitous symbol to visually reference the complications and difficulties that surround the revival of the flax/linen industry in the U.S., and its future in sustainable fiber agriculture. I’ll seek awareness of how this material connects us, and the ways it has been intentionally obscured from public view in favor of more detrimental materials/processes.”

Take a look behind the scenes 🛠
