Meet Dirk! 🐾🐺
This gorgeous 4-year-old Sable Shepherd, Dirk, is currently chilling at Happy Paws Hideaway Kennels for the next 10 or so days before he begins his journey to us. He is a big, handsome boy weighing in at a solid 115 lbs!
Dirk is incredibly well-behaved, happy, and playful. He was an owner surrender, and honestly, we can’t understand how anyone could give up such an amazing dog.
📋 The Details on Dirk:
Breed/Age: 4-year-old German Shepherd
Weight: 115 lbs
Personality: Super friendly, easy to handle, and loves to play! He has a relaxed, happy disposition and loves getting attention and head pats.
Energy Level: High! This boy has plenty of drive and loves to stay active.
Training & Socialization: He’s non-reactive and did great greeting handlers at the shelter. He does have a tendency to get a bit over-excited around other dogs during play (he likes to show off a bit too much!), so he will benefit from continued socialization and basic manners training. He is recommended to be the only dog in the home so he can get all the focus and structure he deserves.

He is OUT! Watch this boy take his very first steps of freedom! Dirk has officially left the Los Angeles shelter and is safe in our hands, but his journey to his forever home at Renegade Rex K9 Ranch is just beginning.
Right now, Dirk is staying with Daniel, our trusted partner who handles all of our rescue dogs with complex bite histories and does an absolute phenomenal job. Daniel didn’t hesitate—he drove 2 hours out and 2 hours back just to make sure Dirk was safely pulled from the shelter and placed into secure temporary boarding.
📦 THE MISSION: BRINGING DIRK HOME
To get Dirk safely across the country from California to our facility in Florida, we need our village. Working with high-drive breeds means doing things the right way, and that requires funding. Here is the exact breakdown of what it takes to save a life like Dirk’s:
Pickup & Transport Fee: $250 (For the 4-hour round trip to pull him safely)
Daily Boarding: $35/day (While we prep his travel details)
Cross-Country Transport: $800

✈️ MAXIMUS IS TENNESSEE BOUND! 🏔️
From California to Florida, and now onto his ultimate forever home—Maximus is officially on his way to Tennessee with his amazing new mom!
This handsome guy came to Renegade Rex K9 Ranch all the way from a high-risk shelter in California. He spent three weeks with us decompression-testing, working on his socialization, and showing us just how incredibly loving he truly is.
While we’re going to miss his big, happy smile around the ranch here in sunny Port Saint Lucie, we couldn't be happier for his next chapter. He’s trading the intense Florida heat for cooler weather, beautiful mountain hikes, and a sweet mom who is going to absolutely spoil him rotten! Honestly, looking at those mountain views he has ahead, we’re all a little jealous!
