Idaho Building Capacity Project

🌱 Celebrating the Fruits of Their Labor 🌱
On May 19, the Idaho Building Capacity Project gathered to celebrate the meaningful, day‑to‑day efforts Capacity Builders pour into their schools. Their work is intentional, relational, and deeply impactful — and it takes time. The seeds planted today may take weeks, months, or even years to grow into the systems, cultures, and outcomes envisioned for Idaho’s students.
This is why the IBC Project partners with schools through a three‑year cohort model. As Michael Fullan reminds us, it can take 3–5 years to truly re‑culture a building. Real change is cultivated, not rushed.
The work of a Capacity Builder begins with trust. It requires deep knowledge, strong communication, and responsiveness — qualities Capacity Builders demonstrate in every conversation, every classroom visit, and every coaching moment.
School improvement mirrors the rhythm of a garden: planting with purpose, nurturing with care, and trusting that growth will come under the right conditions. 🌿
As the meeting concluded, the team reflected on the “fruits of the labor” — a simple baked potato, harvested only after months of unseen growth beneath the soil. It served as a reminder that, much like Idaho’s potato fields, the work Capacity Builders do today will yield a meaningful harvest in time. 🥔
🌟 Doing the Work of School Improvement Since 2008 🌟
For more than 15 years, the Idaho Building Capacity Project has partnered with schools and districts across Idaho to build sustainable systems that strengthen leadership, improve instruction, and boost student achievement.
From the beginning, our mission has remained clear:
To support school and district leaders in creating collaborative, data‑driven systems that help every student succeed.
And the impact speaks for itself:
đź’¬ 100% of participating schools report strengthened leadership capacity
đź’¬ 100% say their PLCs have become more consistent and purposeful
💬 100% credit instructional coaching with improving evidence‑based teaching practices
đź’¬ 100% report improved use of assessment data to guide instruction and intervention
These results come from the dedication of Idaho educators and the deep partnership between Capacity Builders and school teams—working side‑by‑side to develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive school improvement plans.
One Idaho administrator shared:
“Working with the Capacity Builder and this project has created systems and improved our student achievement… I am a better administrator because of this project. We turned the school around… I could not have done this without the CB and the support of the Idaho Building Capacity Project.”
Since 2008, we’ve been honored to walk alongside Idaho's school leadership teams in this work!
