The Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program is an important state assessment that is administered to students in all California public schools. In elementary school, these tests focus primarily on Mathematics and English-Language Arts, while higher grades cover additional subjects.
Standardized testing is a way to see how students are doing. The results of those tests can increase the funding the school receives from the state. Thomas Jefferson Middle School broke the rules in two classrooms during Star tests.
