Discovered from space, thousands of stone tombs line mysterious “funerary avenues” stretching across Saudi Arabia’s desert — built more than 4,500 years ago.

These ancient pathways extend for hundreds of kilometers, marked by ring cairns and pendant-shaped burials that have survived thousands of years of wind and sand.

Dating between 2600 and 2000 BC, their true purpose remains unknown. Some archaeologists think they linked ancient communities or ritual sites, while others see them as pathways for the dead — guiding souls through the desert.
