What do you do? Who do you contact?
*Contact your agent or insurance company with the policy information.

*Submit a Death Benefit Claim along with the official death certificate to the insurance company for processing.

How long does it take?
*If the policy was written over two years before the death occurred, most companies will process the claim and death benefit within a 30 day period.

*If the death occurs within two years of being issued, also known as the "contest period," many companies will be slow to pay and often look for policy exclusions.
