Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) defines true ignominy with piercing clarity. A person who neither knows the path to Allāh nor seeks to learn it has fallen into a state of disgrace, for Allāh declares: "And he whom Allāh humiliates—for him there is no bestower of honor." This teaches us that honor is not found in worldly status but in sincere pursuit of divine guidance. To be heedless of the path is itself the greatest humiliation, while striving toward Him is the essence of nobility.

Such arrogance not only blinds us to the reality of others but leads to loss, humiliation, and disgrace in this life and the next. True honor lies in humility and recognizing that worth is measured by Allāh alone.
