Pitt Med 40 Under 40 Spotlight!
What you were involved in at Pitt:
I received my Masters of Science in Health Services Research from the University of Pittsburgh Clinical and Translational Science Institute's (CTSI's) Institute for Clinical Research and Education (ICRE) from 2019-2021. I was at Magee-Womens Hospital at UPMC from 2015-2019 for Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training, and from 2019-2021 for Reproductive Infectious Disease (RID) Fellowship. I won a departmental award to fund my Master's program at Pitt, and a Magee Womens Research Institute (MWRI) Clinical Trainee Research Award to fund my community-partnereed qualitative research in fellowship.
Current job and employer:
I work at Allegheny Health Network as the Director of Reproductive Infectious Disease and the Co-Director of the Perinatal Hope Program. I am an Assistant Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine, and am a faculty member of the University of Pittsburgh Center for Innovative Research on Gender Health Equity (CONVERGE). I use community-partnered and qualitative approaches to mitigate health disparities among marginalized communities, and to elevate community voices into academic and professional spaces.
One piece of advice for current students:
Trust your sense of curiosity and sense of joy. Be kind to yourself, and let your curiosity and joy guide you forwards.

MED 40 UNDER 40! Today we are spotlighting Natalie Gentile, MD
"While at Pitt Med I won the Larry Nichols Family Medicine Scholarship Award, named most likely to succeed
In Family Medicine. Currently, I teach the Lifestyle Medicine lecture during the Family Medicine Clerkship as a Clinical Assistant Professor and host medical student rotations."
Current job/employer: Natalie is self-employed as Founder and CEO of Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh, LLC and Rebel Wellness, LLC
Piece of advice for current students: Don’t settle for anything less than what fuels your inner fire. You put in so much time, passion, money, and emotional stress to become a physician. So the job you choose after all of that training should ideally fuel your inner fire. If the job itself can’t do that, then make sure to prioritize your interests and self-care outside of work so you never lose sight of “you”.
