Construction update: New bus shelters going up on Forbes Avenue 06/15/2026

Pittsburgh Regional Transit has started installing the first two PRTX bus shelters in Oakland, along Forbes Avenue. Both shelters will have an ADA compliant loading zone and accessible ramps, along with seating, lighting, next-bus arrival screens, fare vending machine, emergency phones and security cameras.

BikePGH wants you to join car-free ‘OpenStreets’ on major Pittsburgh roads 06/15/2026

Bike Pittsburgh is hosting OpenStreets this year on June 28 along Forbes Avenue Downtown, the 10th Street Bridge and part of East Carson Street on the South Side, and on July 26 on Smallman Street in the Strip District and a stretch of Butler Street in Lawrenceville. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) encourages Pennsylvanians to review and comment on the draft 2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The 2027 STIP is a list of projects identified for federal, state, local and private funding over a four-year period. These projects support the Shapiro Administration's vision of a safe and reliable transportation network that connects Pennsylvanians to opportunities and services. The comment period will remain open until 5:00 PM on June 30, 2026.
