How Bauhaus Redefined What Design Could Do for Society A century after its founding, the German school of art and architecture remains one of the most transcendent — and frustrating — movements of the Modernist age.

This photo gives me warm fuzzy feelings. I love the fact that the statue of Richard Caliguiri is standing tall amongst the crowd. It was my first architectural assignment to design the placement of the statue, literally the first week upon moving to the city I now call home. After some research, I understood that the deceased mayor was a person of his citizens, loved hanging out in front of the City County Building, having conversation with the people. The acceptance of this solution was very cautious. I was challenged to come up with other alternative solutions. So glad the decision makers chose my first sketch! It is always a comforting feeling to see public projects evolved. It only reveals through the test of time. I like to see my lines on paper turning out after decades to be engaging, morphing and maturing. It is like giving birth to a child, we do our best to raise the child. When the child becomes an adult, we can only hope that (s)he will mature to be a positively engaging adult.
