Takeda Shingen was served by his famous “twenty four generals” who were a close group of retainers for him, some of which were MUCH closer than some people would believe! His favorite retainer Kosaka Masanobu, was bound to Shingen by a love-pact sworn before the gods.

Yes, a love-pact.
A love-pact that neither would take on another as a lover.

These “shudo” arrangements were actually not very uncommon, as it was expected that they would be loyal unto death to eachother. Pretty useful on a battlefield, don’t you think?
