Angel Eyes needs a little help! He was found with some wounds. This is the after, swipe for the before pics. Angel Eyes was left behind when people moved and he was running the streets for awhile and as a result has some wounds and so many foxtails needing some medical attention. He did had a grooming spa day and many foxtails removed and he is so much cleaner but the next step is getting these wounds treated further which will cost us a few hundred and then fixing him, shots, etc etc.. all the rest of what this sweet dog deserves which will which will likely cost another several hundred. Veterinary care and even what’s considered low cost spay neuter is something we and all rescues are really struggling with and to avoid closing our doors, we do need a little help to help the dogs we take in. Our adoption fees rarely cover what the dogs need. We are hoping people could spare a few dollars to help this guy! Angel is a total loving sweetheart who loves to snuggle. He’s such a gem! We can’t believe someone could leave this guy behind. Thanks for following his story. We can’t wait to get him all healthy and find his furever family. You can donate towards his care at www.K9ppr.org

🎆 The 4th of July and New Year’s Eve = 7x more lost pets. 🎆 These are some of the busiest and most heartbreaking days of the year for shelters and rescues. Fireworks send terrified animals into full panic mode, and every year we see lost, injured, and killed pets trying to escape.
It’s not just dogs and cats—wildlife, birds, horses, and livestock suffer too.
Please help prevent it:
✔️ Make sure ID tags and microchips are up to date.
✔️ Bring pets inside before dark.
✔️ Secure doors, windows, and gates.
This isn’t about debating fireworks. It’s about keeping animals alive and safe.
Please share to help spread the word. 🙏💔

Rescue Rant of the day- This sweet little Shih Tzu is fairly young, fairly healthy, and incredibly sweet. He’s just very confused and kinda scared because people are 💩 too often treat animals as if they’re disposable. Some people really don’t care or have the empathy and love we do for our animals and don’t see them as family.
So this little guy, Oreo, was walked him into the shelter and requested that he be euthanized by his family.
Why? … Not because he’s aggressive. Not because he has serious medical problems. Not even because he has severe behavioral issues..
They said he simply became too inconvenient to care for! This, even after it was explained that it is about to be 4 July, which is one of the busiest times of the year for the shelters they become even more overcrowded euthanasia for space becomes necessary quickly and yet some people still could care less.
I just can’t imagine spending your entire life with one family, only to suddenly be left in a shelter with strangers, wondering why no one came back for you.. I doubt he understands that euthanasia was requested, but it just makes you wonder what kind of people he lived with.
This is the reality of pet overpopulation and why we in rescue are so jaded and exhausted. Animals are too often treated as disposable instead of as family just like this.
When you adopt a dog, you’re making a commitment that will likely last 10–15+ years. Life IS going to change during that time and sometimes having an animal will become very hard and inconvenient and not ideal, but that’s part of life. That’s the decision and commitment you make to adopting a precious soul who depends on you. If you’re not prepared to keep your commitment through those changes, please don’t adopt one!
This little guy deserves so much better. He is at our groomers now for a spa day. We’ll put some weight back on him, remind him that good people still exist, and find him a family that understands forever isn’t just a word—it’s a promise. ❤️🐾
