đźš© 6 Red Flags Buyers Miss During Showings
1. Fresh paint… in just ONE room.
If every wall is outdated except one freshly painted space — ask why.
That “upgrade” is often covering:
• Water damage
• Mold
• Cracks or stains
2. Rugs in weird places
Living room rug? Normal.
Random rug in the kitchen or hallway? đźš©
That’s usually hiding:
• Damaged flooring
• Stains
• Cracked tile
👉 Move it. You’re allowed to look.
3. Overpowering air fresheners.
One candle = staging.
Plug-ins in every outlet = cover-up.
Think:
• Pet odors
• Mildew
• Cigarette smoke
If it smells like a store exploded… start asking questions.
4. Furniture placed… oddly
A bookshelf tight against a wall.
A dresser blocking part of a room.
That’s not design — that’s distraction.
Sellers often use furniture to hide:
• Wall damage
• Cracks
• Water intrusion
5. Dehumidifier running nonstop.
If it’s going full blast, there’s a reason.

Always ask for history + make sure your inspector checks EVERYTHING.
6. “It’s not working right now…”

AC unit “being serviced.”
Hot tub not running.
If it’s not working during the showing…
