Coyote Run State Nature Preserve is the site of an OSU capstone project. The students installed two exclusions fences for a long-term study of deer predation of the flora within and immediately adjacent to the fence. Such studies provide feedback, in part, as to the impact of deer on the health of the forest. Many thanks to Maria, Gavyn and Colton for their good work!

Eastern box turtles are listed as a "species of special concern" in Ohio. This one was recently seen at Coyote Run and is the first reported sighting in the last 5 years. The decline of this species is in part due to loss and fragmentation of habitat. Image courtesy of Ethan Blackstone.

A rainbow over Coyote Run after a summer rain. The spontaneous appearance of a rainbow makes just about everyone smile. It doesn’t matter how many you’ve witnessed as they are always worth stopping and checking out.
Scouting America Troop 1147 had a service campout at Coyote Run recently. The scouts helped with invasive plant removal and planting trees. This troop has volunteered to help with conservation tasks previously and their hard work and ethics are always welcome. Thanks Troop 1147!
