⏳ 5:00 PM WEATHER & SANDBAG UPDATE
Due to continuous rainfall and more heavy rain forecasted this week, Public Works has been distributing sandbags at the City Maintenance Barn (309 Stephens St.).
Note: Distribution for today concludes at 6:00 PM tonight, as stated earlier in other post.
Limit 10 bags per household (with proof of city residency) to help protect main entryways.
🛑 ONGOING OVERNIGHT ROAD CLOSURES (Via Picayune Fire Dept.)
The Fire Department advises that the following streets remain closed due to high water and will remain closed throughout the night. They will be re-evaluated first thing in the morning:
Twisted Oak Dr. (Crosby Estates @ Bridge Crossing)
N. Beech St. (@ Long Bridge)
N. Beech St. (@ Inside Rd. and Westchester Dr.)
Westchester Dr. (@ N. Beech St.)
Inside Rd. (@ N. Beech St.)
N. Main St. (@ Boley Dr.)
N. Loftin Ave. (@ Katie Beck Dees St. to Roosevelt St.)
Washington St. (@ N. Loftin Ave.)
⚠️ PLEASE AVOID THESE AREAS: Drivers bypassing barriers are creating wakes that are actively pushing floodwaters into neighbors' homes. Please be patient and respect the boundaries so we don't cause further damage to residents' property.
🚧 TOMORROW: S. Haugh Ave. Closure (Wednesday, May 27)
Location: S. Haugh Ave. from Tate St. to E. Canal St.
Time: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Reason: PRCUA sewer line repairs.

Let’s show some appreciation and love to one of our own! Congrats to Mark McCormick.
So proud of this guy! Mark is not only a friend to our family but he’s by far the best Emergency Trauma RN I know. If God forbid I ever need trauma response this is the face I wanna see saving my life. To work alongside him in the community we live in with the fire department is an honor. He’s steady, composed and professional! He definitely inspires this nurse. Way to go friend, very well deserved!
Respectfully,
Kristy Scharenbroch
