MEET THE TEAM // Missy Jones
Director of Design
Missy Jones joined räkkhaus in 2025 following four years at Bjarke Ingels Group, where she worked on large-scale, concept-driven projects that merged formal experimentation with programmatic clarity.
Her subsequent work at Weddle Gilmore Black Rock Studio and Architecton sharpened her expertise in contextual design — architecture shaped by landscape, material logic, and narrative restraint.
A graduate of The Ohio State University, Missy brings disciplined conceptual thinking and technical precision to every phase of design.
At räkkhaus, she leads with rigor — advancing work that is formally ambitious, contextually grounded, and culturally relevant.

Räkkhaus is a collective bound by a singular, sharp-edged system. We take the chaos of the street and process it into a refined, minimalist tectonic. It’s about the tension between the historic frame and the digital pulse.
Love. Form. Revolution.

We’re proud to see our ATARI Hotel design featured in .independent, sharing the vision behind the Phoenix project with a global audience.
The project explores how architecture can translate gaming culture into physical space—through immersive environments, esports venues, and experience-driven public realms that invite interaction, play, and community.
Designed as a new kind of urban destination, the hotel reflects our belief that hospitality today is about participation, culture, and connection—not just accommodation.

AZ Family joined us on Rainbow Road to explore a project that challenges the default.
Thank you to the AZ Family crew for capturing the story, the friction, and the vision behind Rainbow Road.
We’re not here to repeat what’s been done. We’re here to rewire what’s possible.

Featured in our recent FOX 10 interview, the custom benches and bike racks along Rainbow Road are designed as bold graphic gestures—part sculpture, part utility, all intention.
It’s not for everyone—and that’s exactly the point.
What if urban design could feel like play, not just planning?
just spotlighted Rainbow Road—our immersive, Mario Kart-inspired reimagining of downtown Phoenix that turns pavement into possibility. It’s not just a design move—it’s a cultural glitch in the matrix.
As Räkkhaus Creative Director Zac Cohen puts it:
“Rainbow Road is a reminder that cities don’t have to be neutral. They can be playful, imaginative, and alive.”
This is architecture as joy. Urbanism as emotional provocation. And yes—it’s just the beginning.

As Räkkhaus’s new Director of Design, Missy Jones brings a portfolio defined by fearless, place-driven design. Among her past work: Brooklyn’s River Street Waterfront—a 1.25 million sq ft transformation that reconnects the city to its shoreline.
From revitalized wetlands to soaring towers, the project reimagines the urban waterfront as both sanctuary and spectacle — blending ecology, culture, and community into one continuous experience.

From every level, Rainbow Road frames a different story of the city — from skyline silhouettes to street textures.
The project is designed as an observatory of urban life, where each angle reveals a new rhythm of Phoenix. Inside, light lines trace geometry; outside, the city becomes part of the architecture itself.

Sharper lines. Louder color.
Rainbow Road doesn’t blend in — it breaks through. ⚡️

Concrete, brick, and shadow—Manzana’s façade turns sustainability into sculpture.
Its angular grid reduces solar gain, enhances efficiency, and celebrates the texture of Roosevelt Row’s urban fabric.
Coming soon. 🚀

At Räkkhaus, design is a continuum—from the first line on paper to the final beam in place.
We navigate every phase of architecture—visioning, design, documentation, and construction—with the same intent: to build meaning, not just form.

Love. Form. Revolution.
Love is the foundation — connection to people, place, and purpose. Form is the language — bold, unapologetic, sculpted to move both body and spirit. Revolution is the promise — a refusal to accept the ordinary, a drive to reimagine what architecture can be.
