In the early 2000s, a butcher named Adam Perry Lang wanted to create a visually stunning steak that would capture the essence of rustic, open-fire cooking. To achieve this, he left a long section of rib bone attached to the ribeye, giving it a distinctive handle-like appearance.
Drawing inspiration from Native American culture and their traditional tomahawk axes, Lang named this particular cut of beef the "Tomahawk" due to the bone's resemblance to the handle of the weapon.
