Ah....it has already started: the annual bombardment of emails and posts about donations...."for the holidays." This uses a person's sense of conditioned obligation and conditioned holiday goodwill to get someone's money out of a pocket. You will NEVER get one of these requests from Empower House. We refrain from this manipulation and we also won't give you a tax receipt because we only take help from people who actually believe in what we are doing (ask me more about this!) It has been to our financial detriment though, because we haven't been supported much by our community. However, domestic violence and poor mental health is a community problem and therefore deserves a community response. It is hard to keep this up, but I am a stubborn idealist and just want to help people because my heart tells me to. Live in LOVE.
