Did you know it can frost overnight in Phoenix?🥶🥶

It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does it’s important to protect your plants! Frost can seriously damage or even kill fruits and vegetables.

CamelBackyard helps keep plants warm with frost cloth. Frost cloth traps humidity and heat to insulate plants, placed in a manner that creates a tent around them.

Cloth is beneficial as it dries faster than other materials, is breathable and lightweight for delicate plants 🌱

Chores are an everyday thing when maintaining a farm! 💪🚜

Each day the tilapia are fed which provides nutrient rich water to the aquaponics system and plants. These little (or big) guys are always eager to see us with a cup of food in our hands!

A byproduct of this system are snails, which can clog up the pipes in the greenhouse, blocking water going to the vegetables. New Roots community outreach intern, Makenna, is completing a “snail check” in the photo, to clear them out. 🐌

While most plants and vegetables at the site run on irrigation, potted plants need watering weekly in order to keep our garden looking fresh and beautiful. ☀️🌼
