According to the most recent data available, which is from 2019, AAA Arizona says Arizona is number one in the nation when it comes to how many people are killed by drivers blowing through a red light.

AAA's most recent data shows Arizona lost more than 350 people to red-light running between 2008 and 2017.

Among the notable highlights from the data:
✅ 28 percent of crash deaths that occur at signalized intersections are the result of a driver running through a red light.
✅ Per capita, Arizona has the highest rate of red-light running fatalities while New Hampshire has the lowest rate.
✅ Nearly half (46 percent) of those killed in red-light running crashes were passengers or people in other vehicles and more than 5 percent were pedestrians or cyclists.
✅ Just over 35 percent of those killed were the drivers who ran the red light.

Their research also finds a majority of drivers acknowledged how dangerous running a red light is.
Despite the danger, one in three drivers said they had done it in the last 30 days, with many saying they did not think they would be caught by law enforcement.

Here are 7 reasons to become ADA website accessible

1. Prevent Being-Hit-with-a-Lawsuit….. They Are Coming To A Neighborhood Near You!

Your website might look nice and be easy to use but it’s possible you could receive a threatening letter from a lawyer with an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) claim against your company/website.

2. Because You Don’t Have An Extra 50K Laying Around For Legal Fees

If you are sued by someone with a disability, paying for legal representation may only be a portion of your legal fees. Depending on the case outcome, you may also have to pay the plaintiff’s legal fees and still have to spend money bringing your site to compliance. For small businesses, this could be enough to force closure, so it makes more sense to invest in getting your website compliant with the ADA and section 508 using WCAG.

3. Go Ahead Counter Sue A Disabled Person

Brand reputation is everything these days – and with social media making it easier for people to share both positive and negative experiences with their friends and family, you don’t want to be on the receiving end of any negative press. You may have to invest even more money into a public relations firm to do damage control if you are party to an ADA compliance lawsuit. 90% of consumers read online reviews before visiting your website, and 67.7% of purchasing decisions are affected by online reviews.

4. Bad Business Practice 101- Alienate Millions of Potential New Visitors

By not being ADA compliant you will lose the potential business of disabled persons who cannot access your website. 1 in 4 US adults’ lives with a disability. By not having a fully accessible website, you risk alienating a huge number of audience members before visiting your website.

5. Yes….. I Want My Site To Suffer The Dreaded Google Slap!!

The big “G” expects every website to be ADA accessible and you risk search engine optimization losses because you are not ADA compliant. Google wants everyone to have an enjoyable experience with every website that is published PERIOD END OF SENTENCE. However, if your site is compliant Google rewards you site with some Google love and moves your site upwards above those sites that are non-compliant.

6. I Am Definitely Ready To Take On The DOJ

The US Department of Justice stands behind these compliance requirements and they are well aware of the tax rewards you are given to become ADA compliant. They will vehemently stand behind the disabled and look at you as someone that didn’t care about a visitor who suffers disability

7. Become Compliant Because It Is Just The Right Thing To Do!!

Seriously think about all the advantages we mentioned. Do it because people with disabilities deserve accessibility to your website. Do it because Google will reward your site authority. Do it because the IRS will grant you tax credits. Do it and you will never have to deal with the DOJ. Do it because your brand just wouldn’t look good counter suing a disabled person. Do it because your competition isn’t. Do it to avoid a nasty sleep stealing lawsuit. Do it because it is just the right thing to do.
