Recent tattoo thoughts: it’s no secret that this past year has been ROUGH for everybody, and in particular, tattooists. We are the last on the totem pole. This is a luxury service that typically comes last on peoples’ list of priorities. I’ve watched a lot of really talented people leave this craft to find better opportunity during my time here. And struggle we may, I still constantly am finding gems everywhere I turn that make me say “I FU***NG LOVE TATTOOING.” The friendships, the humor, the ability to make someone’s day, the ability to help someone grieve, the ability to help someone feel comfortable in their own skin, the ability to create connections (sometimes generationally). There is something just so magical about this collaborative ebb and flow that we get to work within. There are always gems to find if you allow yourself the time to look. The tat gods are fu***ng real, and if you don’t pay your respects, they will humble you quickly. Be good and do good, because someday, we will all return to dust.
