Santo Domingo, 4 jul (EFE).- Cerca de seis millones de turistas visitaron la República Dominicana en los primeros seis meses de este año, una subida de un 11 % respecto al primer semestre de 2023, lo que supone un nuevo récord para el país caribeño, según informó este jueves el ministro de Turismo dominicano, David Collado. En el periodo enero-junio el país recibió 4.474.981 turistas vía aérea y 1.475.745 por cruceros, para un aumento de un 9 % y un 16 %, respectivamente, de acuerdo con los datos oficiales.
Solo en el mes de junio llegaron 758.719 turistas por vía aérea y 165.017 cruceristas, precisó el ministro en rueda de prensa. El ministro añadió que pese a la denominada temporada baja, la ocupación hotelera se encuentra actualmente en un 72 %.
La República Dominicana rompió las marcas en cuanto a llegada de turistas en 2023, con un total de 10.3 millones de visitas, un 21% más que en 2022, de acuerdo con datos oficiales.

Santo Domingo, July 4 (EFE) — Nearly six million tourists visited the Dominican Republic in the first six months of this year, an 11% increase compared to the first half of 2023, setting a new record for the Caribbean country, according to Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado on Thursday. During the January-June period, the country received 4,474,981 tourists by air and 1,475,745 by cruise, reflecting increases of 9% and 16%, respectively, according to official data.
In June alone, 758,719 tourists arrived by air and 165,017 by cruise, the minister specified at a press conference. The minister added that despite the so-called low season, hotel occupancy currently stands at 72%.
The Dominican Republic broke records for tourist arrivals in 2023, with a total of 10.3 million visits, a 21% increase compared to 2022, according to official data.
