Some of you read the title of this week’s blog, "Dad Tried His Best," and you wanted to throw your phone.
If your father was absent, cold, or cruel, hearing that he did his best lands like an insult.
Stay with us. Saying he did his best is not the same as saying what he did was acceptable. It wasn’t. We don’t excuse it, accept it, or wave it off. "My dad was fine. I don't think this applies to me."
We hear that a lot.
And sometimes it's true. But sometimes what's missing isn't abuse or absence.
Sometimes it's a good man who never talked about his inner life. A dad who was hardworking, reliable, and completely emotionally unavailable.
A man who loved you and had no idea how to show it in a way you could actually receive.
Those patterns leave marks, too. They're just quieter and harder to name.
This Father's Day, we're not here to drag your dad. We're here to help you figure out what you're carrying so you can decide what you actually want to pass on.
