Georgia's special legislative session wrapped up this week with major implications for the state's elections. Lawmakers sent legislation to the governor’s desk expanding risk-limiting audits (RLAs) and delaying changes to the state's QR-code tabulation system until 2028 —a development Verified Voting's Strategy and Policy Director Mark Lindeman says brings necessary clarity for election officials:
“Georgia’s election officials, voters, and communities have faced months of uncertainty about the immediate future of Georgia elections. This legislation calls for moving to a new voting system in 2027, and election officials can continue to focus on running secure and fair elections this year.”
