This July 10th, Philadelphia FIGHT recognizes Chronic Disease Awareness Day. Chronic diseases account for 7 of the top 10 causes of death in the United States. Access to treatment and care is critical for people who suffer from chronic conditions. Appropriate funding for research, treatment and prevention as well as expanding access to healthcare is necessary to improve the lives of people with chronic disease. Este 10 de julio, Philadelphia FIGHT conmemora el Día Mundial de Concientización sobre las Enfermedades Crónicas. Las enfermedades crónicas representan 7 de las 10 principales causas de muerte en Estados Unidos. Our Pediatric Behavioral Health Consultant Adina Freedman discusses the importance of allowing children to have control over their bodies and not forcing affection onto them. She also encourages talking to your children about the difference between okay touch and not okay touch, teaching them to notice when something doesn't feel right and letting them know they can talk to you if something or someone makes them feel uncomfortable. Adina Freedman spoke at our annual HIV Education Summit, giving a very important talk about preventing childhood sexual abuse.
Nuestra consultora en salud conductual pediátrica, Adina Freedman, habla sobre la importancia de permitir que los niños tengan control sobre sus propios cuerpos y no obligarlos a demostrar afecto. También anima a hablar con tus hijos sobre la diferencia entre el contacto que está bien y el que no lo está, enseñándoles a notar cuando algo no se siente correcto y haciéndoles saber que pueden hablar contigo si algo o alguien los hace sentir incómodos. Philadelphia City Councilmember Rue Landau took the stage to speak at our annual HIV Education Summit last Friday. In addition to her powerful and moving speech, Councilmember Landau presented Philadelphia FIGHT with a Citation on behalf of the City of Philadelphia to celebrate FIGHT's work of serving Philadelphians living with HIV.
La concejala de la ciudad de Filadelfia, Rue Landau, subió al escenario para hablar en nuestra Cumbre anual de Educación sobre el VIH el pasado viernes. Además de su discurso poderoso y conmovedor, la concejala Landau le entregó a Philadelphia FIGHT una Citación en nombre de la Ciudad de Filadelfia para celebrar el trabajo de FIGHT atendiendo a los filadelfianos que viven con VIH.

On Friday June 12th 2026, Philadelphia FIGHT hosted our annual HIV Education Summit at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This year's theme was HIV and Mental Health, the hidden connection. HIV and mental health do not exist in isolation, and we cannot effectively treat HIV without acknowledging the ways that HIV and mental health are interconnected. As we near the end of AIDS education month it is important to remember that the fight against AIDS is not over and there is still work that needs to be done. Work that cannot be done without proper funding and support for research and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
El viernes 12 de junio de 2026, Philadelphia FIGHT organizó nuestra cumbre anual de educación sobre el VIH en el Centro de Convenciones de Pensilvania. El tema de este año fue VIH y Salud Mental, la conexión oculta. El VIH y la salud mental no existen de manera aislada, y no podemos tratar el VIH de manera efectiva sin reconocer las formas en que el VIH y la salud mental están interconectados. A medida que nos acercamos al final del mes de la educación sobre el SIDA, es importante recordar que la lucha contra el SIDA no ha terminado y todavía hay trabajo por hacer.
