Dessie ACCT-A-251756 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Dessie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, JUNE 5TH at 10AM. Should Dessie's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Dessie is a two-year-old cat who came to ACCT Philly on June 1st after being hit by a car. He has a severely displaced, complete fracture of his right distal femur that requires surgical repair. Despite arriving in obvious pain, Dessie has shown just how sweet he truly is. He deserves the chance to heal and reveal even more of his wonderful personality in a loving environment. Due to his medical concerns, Dessie is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

VIDEOS:
Meet Dessie: https://youtube.com/shorts/eLYHVUBBUDs?feature=share

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 6/3: Dessie was laying down and was a little hesitant when I first reached in, but was tolerant of pets on his head and side.
Per staff 6/2: Very sweet and tolerant guy despite obvious pain.

Per finder 6/1: Hit by a car. Scared, panting.

MEDICAL NOTES:
6/1 Vet Exam: He was panting on arrival due to stress and pain, but his breathing quickly returned to normal after pain medication was given. His abdomen was tense and difficult to fully assess. He was non-weight bearing on his right hind leg and hesitant to walk. X-rays revealed a severely displaced complete fracture of the right distal femur. He will require surgical repair as soon as possible, with amputation as a last resort option if surgery is not feasible. He was started on pain management.

Maddie ACCT-A-251477 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Maddie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, JUNE 6TH at 10AM. Should Maddie's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Maddie is a true senior gentleman of 17, and was surrendered to ACCT after ongoing vomiting. While we haven't seen evidence of vomiting in our care, we discovered that Maddie has periodontal disease, a grade four heart murmur, and a cutaneous mass under his right eye. We also suspect that Maddie has early-stage renal disease, and he has been losing weight since entering the shelter.

In his kennel, Maddie is a little shy, but he perks up when approached with treats. He enjoys being petted, but particularly likes rubbing his own face into your hands. Maddie's owner notes paint a picture of a cat trying to express his discomfort in whatever ways that he can: by no longer acting friendly with the dog in the home, and by using his claws and teeth. But Maddie has been very tolerant with our staff, allowing physical exams and a blood-draw. The common stereotype of a "cranky old cat" may be charming, but not when those behaviors could be linked to underlying medical conditions.

We would love to see Maddie enjoy his golden years in comfort, somewhere he can be offered snacks and elect not to eat them--someplace where there is always a hand he can rub against.

Behavior Notes

6/3 by Staff
Maddie was on his shelf and remained there throughout our interaction. He was originally laying down, but then stood and raised his hind end into the pets. At some points his tail flicked back and forth as if he were beginning to get overstimulated, but he never reacted and remained tolerant of pets.

5/29 relayed to Staff by Owner
Cat has been throwing up for the past few days after eating. Has a growth on eye that started 3 months ago and had gotten bigger since. Cat can't jump up high anymore--they believe his back legs are having issues. Also, behavior has changed in the last year, mainly with client's mom, and resident dog who was once a close companion of Maddie. Owner reports Maddie will stalk their mother and latch onto her with claws and mouth, and that he has broken skin several times.

Behavior:

On 6/2 staff noted: I went to say hello to Snowball in his kennel. Upon approaching the kennel, I saw that he was sleeping and making biscuits. When I went to open the kennel door, he immediately got up to say hello. I opened the door and he instantly solicited for pets which I gave him happily. He purred as I scratched under his chin and by his ears. He continuously made biscuits and leaned into all pets. Every so often he would look up at me with his beautiful eyes, soft blinking. Very sweet boy who enjoys attention.

Update- Dessie is in need
Today! 🚨

Nickey and Steffon were adopted! ❤️

Nickey and Steffon were extended until THURSDAY, 6/04! They're available for adoption, foster, or rescue! Enail [email protected] if your rescue can pull or [email protected] if you can foster through ACCT Philly . ACCT is open from 10am-6pm daily for walk in adoption. Dessie is timestamped for FRIDAY, 6/05 and is available for rescue only due to a fractured femur that requires surgical repair.

**EXTENDED!**
**Steffon has $935 in pledges for the rescue that pulls**
**Nickey has $970 in pledges for the rescue that pulls**

Steffon ACCT-A-248828 & Nickey ACCT-A-248823 are currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Nickey and Steffon must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, EXPERIENCED FOSTER, or EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by THURSDAY, JUNE 4TH. Should Nickey and Steffon's medical or behavioral status change, their urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Steffon & Nickey boys from a group of nine who came to ACCT Philly on April 27th after their beloved owner passed away. Both arrived understandably shaken by the loss of the only home they had ever known. In the weeks since their arrival, they have been slowly but meaningfully opening up. Their sibling Shelly was able to be adopted! Steffon is the most outgoing of the two — he’s been purring during chin scratches, meowing to greet visitors, and rubbing himself against legs with clear affection. Nickey, often found close by Shelly’s side or even right on top of him, is calm and tolerant of gentle pets, though he takes some time to warm up. With each passing day, these boys are showing more of who they really are: sweet, gentle companions who are ready to grieve and heal in a calm and loving home. Since they came from a home with so many cats, they are not bonded with each other and can go to separate homes. Due to their behavioral concerns, Steffon & Nickey are urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, experienced foster, or experienced adopter.

GROUP BEHAVIOR NOTES 5/29:
After spending only a short few days really getting to really know these boys their personality's have started to grow tremendously. Shelly is usually up high with Nickey somewhere close by. With a slow approach Shelly will allow you to pet him all over and will lean in for chin scratches. He loves hard treat and sniffing all around him. When I went in to say hello to the boys today Shelly was out eating I walked in and he went up onto his hiding spot. I walked over and let him sniff me and then said hello to Steffon who was meowing at me on the floor. Before I could look back up Shelly was on the floor next to Steffon sniffing me and rubbing his body onto my legs. Shelly even had the confidence to stand out in the room while a new aca came to drop off his food today. He only retreated to his cat tree once a loud car came by and the room started to get really loud. I went over to him and he still allowed all rubs and leaning into them. Shelly is definitely warming up amazingly and will be a lap cat in no time.

STEFFON'S BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 5/29: Steffon was in the cat tree when I entered the room. He stuck his head forward to sniff my hand, but moved it backwards when I went to pet him. I let him sniff again and then gave him a few pets on his head and hind end.

Per staff 5/26: Steffon will eat any treat and even stole some treats from Nickey who just sat and watched. Steffon was purring during chin scratches! He came out during our time together and was meowing coming over for pets, Steffon was rubbing his body all over my legs! He's definitely the most outgoing so far and is only going to come out of his shell in time!
Per staff 5/21: Went through portal to other side of kennel when I opened kennel door. Other staff member opened that side and picked him up to put in the den.

Per staff 5/8: Returning from the Cat Doctor due to stress. Steffon is hiding and hissing. He attempts to swat staff while they are cleaning his kennel.

Per staff 4/27: Friendly, allowed all handling and physical exam.

NICKEY'S BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 5/29: Nickey was in a cubby and didn't look up at me for pictures even when I touched his cheeks. I reached in and pet him and he was tolerant, did not react at all. He has the biggest, most adorable cheeks!

Per staff 5/26: Nickey is usually close by or on top of Shelly. He may shy away and airplane ear to start but will still tolerate rubs all over, I have not gotten him to eat any wet or dry treats though, but I have gotten him to stop airplane earring when I go in for a pet.

Per staff 5/24: Sweet Nickey is laying right on top of Shelly right now.

Per staff 5/21: Laying behind litter box, removed litter box from kennel and put den in. Walked into the den as I pushed it closer to him.

Per staff 5/2: Allowed some petting around his big handsome cheeks, but started to wince and hiss when I got closer. Had some untouched treats. Did not escalate.

Per intake 4/27: Hitting the carrier.
