Announcing the Crowd Favorite for POST 2025
Sean Christopher
Sean Christopher (b. May 17) is an African American artist working primarily in watercolor and graphite. Influenced by Pittsburgh painter Dean Mitchell, he focuses on realism to capture everyday Black life through observation. His work is both conversational and conceptual, blending technical skill with emotional depth. Grounded in lived experience, he uses portraiture and scene to reflect identity, resilience, and presence. As a modern watercolorist, he challenges narratives and invites viewers to see what is often overlooked. Guided by James Baldwin’s quote, “The time is now,” his art speaks to the urgency and beauty of Black existence in contemporary America.
Thank you to everyone who visited studios, voted, and supported local artists during the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST). Your participation and generosity keep this community thriving. This year’s Crowd Favorite voting invited audiences and visitors to cast a vote through a donation for the studio(s) that inspired them most during POST.
Your continued support is vital. Every contribution helps us offset participation costs for artists, ensuring that POST remains low-cost or free for those who make Philadelphia’s creative scene so vibrant.
Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) is a citywide celebration of visual artists and creativity. Each October, POST showcases hundreds of artists across more than twenty Philadelphia neighborhoods, offering an inside look at their studios through free self-guided tours, exhibitions, demonstrations, and talks. It’s a city-wide, all-ages event that brings the city’s diverse creative community together in a uniquely personal way.
Your gift helps make POST possible — please consider donating today to help us continue supporting local artists. Visit cfeva.org/support and help make Philly artists thrive.
