Meet the Permit Philly team! Today: Rei Mariman, one of our Permit Coordinators.

Rei comes to Permit Philly from a role as Director of Data Computing and Research Support for a research lab within the Wharton AI and Analytics Initiative. Before that, she was the Politics Department Coordinator at Princeton University. Armed with this data analysis experience, Rei devises internal software tools for the team when she’s not working directly on client projects.

Unsurprisingly, given this background, Rei is a very systematic thinker and planner. She takes on a lot of our cases in towns, townships, and boroughs outside Philadelphia itself, and always leaves the team with a detailed report on each municipal process. Brett frequently muses aloud about recording some kind of useful information only for Rei to tell him she already has a spreadsheet for that.

Meet the Permit Philly team!

First up: Brett Madsen, the owner and director of the business.

Brett founded Permit Philly in 2018, after cutting his teeth as the operations coordinator for a zoning law office. When he started, he was brand new to Philly, had never worked in real estate before, and hadn’t ever seen a zoning or building permit. Now he has nearly a decade of experience reviewing and cataloguing Philadelphia regulations, and he’s pulled permits since the days a single application required a few hundred pages of physical paperwork.

If you see him around Philly, be warned that he is probably going to show you pictures of his infant son whether or not you asked for that.
