Summer’s a bustling time in Delaware, and some of our high school participants are getting excellent restaurant and customer service experience in two much-loved establishments!

Pictured here are a few of our Pre-Employment Transition participants. They’ve been hard at work at Seaford’s iconic Lickety Splitz Ice Cream parlor and Slingers Pizza & Grill. As the summer gets into full swing, these students have been given the chance to learn the ins and outs of industry work, from food prep and serving to point-of-sale and customer service.

These fantastic photos come to us from CIS’s own Erin Velott, who helped facilitate these internships for the students and is supporting them on site.

“Both businesses have the same ownership and they were kind enough to let our students work both stores,” said Erin. “These guys have learned how to grill, make pizza dough, serve, prep food, scoop ice cream, make ice cream cakes, make milkshakes, handle money, and have gotten lots of good experience interacting with customers!”

Our enormous thanks to Lickety Splitz and Slingers for being so welcoming and supportive—these interns are quickly becoming pros at a range of work skills, and they’re making friends and having fun along the way!
