4 Way Street is the intersection of instrumental talent, harmonic vocals, a groove that's tight and a mix of Blues, Classic Rock, Funk and Jazz that combine to create a unique and different sound. The band evolved from some informal jam sessions in 2009. But with the loss of bass player Gerry Franciosa and drummer Jim Mobile, Mike Young and Big Ed Gunning had a challenge to keep the music flowing.
Mike's early musical talents were shaped from his formative years living in London during the heyday of the Beatles and The Stones, then growing up in NYC and North Jersey were he really honed his skills. Big Ed is a multi-talented musician from Baltimore where he was a drummer, keyboard/ pianist and guitarist. Ed has a great love for the Blues, Jazz and Classic Rock and has been working on his bluesy, soulful vocals with the help of a vocal coach. The challenge of finding a new bass player and drummer was solved by the addition of bassist Andrew Keetch and drummer Fran Sarro. Both have great talent and experience. The addition of harpist Dave "VK" Van Keuren helps to round out the bluesy leads, fills and harmonies. After a gig at a Mardi Gras party with a few sit-ins we recruited Rich Ford and Brent Albert to add a horn section to the band. Unfortunately Brent was forced to bow out by conditions beyond his control, but Rich plays on beautifully. Most recently, Fran decided to reach out to other endeavors, and we find ourselves looking for a new drummer. The band still works on new material, and tries to tighten up on some of our standards in the meantime. We will be back on the scene!
