So much fun, so much joy at Coney Island USA Presents: The Mermaid Parade this year! It's been five years since I've attended -- this time, shooting officially on the job. I took a break from my normal NJ editor duties and shot for Gothamist & WNYC.

One of these shots was taken as I waited in the cold for the sun to come over the horizon, muttering "C'mon, sun" like Ed Lover and/or the guys from Psych.

Another was taken at 4:30 a.m. ... I couldn't sleep.

From our weekend away in/around Cape May.

Go small, then go home. Playing with the macro lens (mostly) in the conservatory at Longwood Gardens.

I didn't think to mark down what each of these plants were as I shot them. Best guesses?

More than a year ago, trying out some astrophotography at Cherry Springs State Park. That's Venus, hanging low.
